Community Overview

Fort Richmond was established in the early 60’s and was developed till the mid 1980”s. This community was to service the growing demand for housing directly surrounding the University of Manitoba . Many professors, university staff and even students have made Fort Richmond their home because of its location and access to local services and amenities. Since the completion of this project, there have been other neighbourhoods that have built up around Fort Richmond to catch the over flow of interest for this part of the city. Richmond West, Waverley Heights & St. Norbert are a few of the neighbouring communities close to the university.

The style of houses found here includes; bungalows, two storey, bi-levels and

Split level homes. Homes in this area sell in a range from $125,000 up to $500,000. Fort Richmond also offers a large number of condominiums projects. Condo styles available are apartment style, townhouse, bungalow, and split level. With apartment & townhouse style being the most prominent in the area. Condominiums sales start at around $100,000 and go up to $500,000.

Pembina Highway offers a wide variety of strip mall shops and services. The Fort Richmond Plaza Mall offers a Safeway and Zellers, while Pembina Village Mall offers a Safeway as well as a nice variety of specialty shops and services.


Recreation

This community has a number of indoor and outdoors recreation facilities. King’s Park is the area’s largest community riverside park that hosts a number of sport activities and events throug the year. The Fort Richmond Community Centre offers both indoor and outdoor sports.
